Ballet I

This class is recommended for dancers ready for a more structured class than creative movement. They will spend time at the barre and in the center of the room learning the positions of the arms and feet, as well as, basic ballet steps. Dancers will also be taught to travel from one corner of the room to the next while practicing basic turns, jumps and leaps. They will also learn to count music and dance on the correct musical counts. They will learn proper classroom etiquette and how to exhibit God-honoring behavior.

Dress Code: All ballet, jazz and contemporary classes need to wear tights, a solid colored leotard and appropriate shoes, either ballet or jazz shoes. Dance shorts/skirts or leggings are allowed as cover ups. Hair should be pulled back and secured. No Dangling jewelry.

Payment Information: All checks need to be made out to Redemptive Dance or RDM.

Trial Classes: During the first two weeks of the session, registered students may try any additional age and skill level appropriate classes for free.

Ballet II

Level ll dancers will begin class stretching their feet at the barre to develop strength. They learn basic steps and positions, which will be combined to create combinations. They will be taught about maintaining correct posture, which in ballet, involves the feet up through the top of the head. They will learn French terminology and practice reciting and using the names during class. They will travel across the floor combining two or more steps. Dancers practice adagio, turns, jumps and flexibility exercises in the center. They will learn proper classroom etiquette and how to exhibit God-honoring behavior.

Dress Code: All ballet, jazz and contemporary classes need to wear tights, a solid colored leotard and appropriate shoes, either ballet or jazz shoes. Dance shorts/skirts or leggings are allowed as cover ups. Hair should be pulled back and secured. No Dangling jewelry.

Ballet III

Level lll dancers are expected to take class more seriously and work hard to improve their flexibility and technique all while exhibiting God-honoring behavior. They will spend time at the barre, center and across the floor. Dancers will be encouraged to count the music and name the steps. Three or more steps will be combined to create combinations for across the floor and center work. Dancers at this level must maintain an attentive focus during class.

Dress Code: All ballet, jazz and contemporary classes need to wear tights, a solid colored leotard and appropriate shoes, either ballet or jazz shoes. Dance shorts/skirts or leggings are allowed as cover ups. Hair should be pulled back and secured. No Dangling jewelry.

Ballet IV

Level IV dancers are expected to work hard in class and model God-honoring behavior with their words and actions. Dancers are expected to challenge themselves and push for excellence through barre, center and across the floor work. Combinations will be more difficult with a focus on  flexibility and use of proper technique. Dancers at this level will start class at the ballet barre to work on classical technique, executing combinations at different musical tempos and on different musical counts.  They will also build strength and learn how to put several steps together while smoothly transferring their weight and holding correct posture and body placement.

Dress Code: All ballet, jazz and contemporary classes need to wear tights, a solid colored leotard and appropriate shoes, either ballet or jazz shoes. Dance shorts/skirts or leggings are allowed as cover ups. Hair should be pulled back and secured. No Dangling jewelry.

Teen/Adult Beginning Ballet

This class is designed for Teens and adults that are either new to classical ballet or have danced before and would like to get back into class. We will cover the basics at the barre, center and across the floor. Stretching to increase flexibility will be incorporated throughout the class. Combinations will be adjusted for different levels of ability as needed. Wear either leotard and tights or form fitting clothes that allows movement.
